授業概要  
Classes will be provided on the basic knowledge related to soil science, crop nutrition, plant breeding, and crop protection necessary for sustainable crop production. In particular, comprehensive classes will be provided on the cultivation environment such as meteorological and soil factors, soil functions and fertilizer use, breeding techniques and biotechnology related to crop cultivation, and crop protection such as pest control and weed control.
 
到達目標  
By taking this class, students will be able to understand and explain the role of soil management and crop cultivation technology in agriculture and livestock farming, as well as understand the close relationship between soil science and crop cultivation technology with other specialized fields. Acquire basic knowledge and skills that can contribute to sustainable food production.

備考 Textbooks are not used. Handouts and materials necessary for the course, preparation, and review will be distributed as appropriate or uploaded to moodle. Slides and videos will be used in lectures.

準備学習（予習・復習）等の内容と分量  
Based on the handouts and materials distributed for each lecture, we will present topics to review and topics to prepare for. Generally, assignments are presented that require one hour for review and one hour for preparation.
 
成績評価の基準と方法  
A short report (20%) is assigned for each lecture to evaluate understanding and interest in the lecture, and a final exam (80%) evaluates judgment and problem-solving ability based on the knowledge obtained.
